Other information:
IMPORTANT
NOTE.
The instructor has the right to refuse to train
people who come to train for the wrong reasons, or who he considers
to have the wrong attitude, or whome he considers a danger to others.
What
is it?
Self defence classes for everyone, (mixed classes), based on Krav
Maga and Rukupashnyi Boi (Israeli & Russian military martial
arts).
These are NOT sport based martial arts, there is no belt grading
system, they were designed by military experts for use in real life
situations, and are used around the world by various Military &
Government agencies, including some American Police forces, the
Israeli Defence Force and the Russian Military “Spetznaz”
(special forces).

Do
I have to know Martial Arts?
No, not al all..
These classes are for anyone, regardless of experiance, self defence
should be for everyone, not just people who have spent years learning
martial arts.
Lessons and Instructions are given so that they are easy to understand,
use and remember.
If you are fit enough to walk up a couple of flights of stairs then
our classes are suitable for you.
You do not HAVE to do anything, just come and do what you can, if
one way of doing something is hard for you dont worry because there
is normally another option.

How
much does it cost?
£3.00 per week.

How
do the classes work?
By example, you will be shown various simulated threats and attacks
and the ways to defeat them, then you practice with a partner (slowly
at first) whilst under supervision.

Can
I do it?
Yes, the systems are easy to learn and use, and are based on the
way a human body naturally reacts, so it’s easy to remember
when under pressure.
Women especially find it easy to learn, as for your age, anything
from 14– 50 years old (under 16’s MUST be accompanied
by a parent or guardian, who can just spectate if they wish).
Wives, husbands, partners, friends and other family members are
more than welcome as long as they meet the above criteria, in fact
they are encouraged as it gives you someone to practice with at
home.

Do
I need to buy any Clothing or Equipment?
No, special clothing is not needed as training is meant to be as
real as possible so loose fitting trousers such as jeans/jogging
bottoms, combat trousers, a t-shirt and trainers are perfect, in
short the sort of thing you may be wearing when out on the street.
In some classes a jacket would be needed (a small number of army
combat jackets will be available for loan in the classes, although
these are easily purchased at your local army surplus shop from
£5 - £10.)
Training knives / sticks and guns will be used for some of the training
but these will be supplied.

Can
I come and watch?
You are more than welcome to come and watch, for a lesson or two,
or as a guardian or parent of an under 16 year old who is taking
part.
Top
Is
it hard work?
No, not really. However the more effort you put in the more you
get out, these classes are designed to make you feel and act more
confidently and if required give you the means to defend yourself.
The classes will also help you keep fit as some physical exercise
is involved.
Top
Is
it Dangerous?
In order to make things as safe as possible there is a thorough
warm up at the start of each class, and specialised training guns
/ knives and sticks are used at all times. As in any physical activity
there is always the danger of accidents — but safety is always
our main priority, and you will be closely supervised during the
classes.
Top
Will
it save my life?
NO… YOU will save YOUR life… with training anyone can
learn to make the right decisions and react according to the threat,
whether to fight back or run away, in the end it’s up to you.

What if I want to learn more?
Due to demand I am now teaching more advanced classes on a
Wednesday night at 6pm, this is ONLY open to people who have
completed a full course of our Thursday nights Self defence lessons,
and may involve you having to purchase some protective equipment (Headguard
/ Gloves etc) as some contact is used for realism.
Other
information:
The classes are for a maximum of 12 people so that they are more
personal, and to ensure that you train under close supervision (so
please book your place early).
Cobra Defence is an equal opportunity training club, and we will not tolerate any abuse, whether it is based on Race,
Religion, Colour, Age or Physical / Mental Impairment, anyone attending the classes MUST respect other
people in the class and the Instructors, failure to abide by this
rule will result in immediate removal from the class with no refund
of monies paid.
The course will run for about 8 weeks depending on ability by the
end of which we hope you will have a better understanding of how
to defend yourself and more importantly how to react when threatened
(these first few seconds of any incident are the most important).
For
your confidence the instructor has £2,000,000 public liability
insurance.
