Why should I learn Self Defence

Did you know that according to studies over 70% of assaults start with a simple "Shove", and that over 60% of attacks are alcohol or drugs related.

Here is an extract from the Crown Prosecution website

"A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances for the purposes of:

self-defence; or
defence of another; or
defence of property; or
prevention of crime; or
lawful arrest. "

Self Defence has one purpose, to protect you and your family/friends and property it is not a way to learn how to fight or beat people up, and we will NOT teach you how to do this!!!

Body Language,
How to read other peoples body language, and how to change your own body language to suit the situation

Verbal Defence,
How to use your voice to calm a situation, get help, or to control someone.

Common Sense,
The one thing about common sense is that its not common, we will tell you about some ways to make yourself safer and less of a target.

Attitude
Sometimes you need to be "Passive" or "Defensive" and sometimes you need to turn on an "Agressive" attitude to make any attacker think again about picking you as a target, we explain what to use when.

Environment
We teach you how to "read the environment" all the time, and how to spot potential trouble.

Physical Defence
Most of the above topics, come under "Mental Defence" We will also train you in the physical
side side of defending yourself, against most of the most common types of attacks, Knife / Gun / Stick attacks, bear hugs, grabs and shoves, and groundfighting.

The Law
We will explain some aspect of the law with regards to Self Defence and what you can and cannot do, for more information please see the following page on the Crown Prosecution website
